Geeky Math Camp nails

Today I did a mani inspired by fractals, a topic we learned about on a Math Camp - one week just before I went to Milan :)
This is the first mani I've done with a small brush, not just the one from the lacquers. The brush is a single-use brush, the ones that's used when you can get a make-up in a store. I think it was actually for eye liner, but who cares, it worked brilliantly ;)
With thumb mattified

For those who can't see or don't know what it' supposed to look like: the thumb is Kochs' snowflake, index is pi, middle is the Sierpinski triangle, ring is the Mandelbrot set and the pinkie contains Greek letters: alpha, beta, omega, lambda and rho.
Before the ring finger got extra effects ;)
I think I tried with 'a step' too much on this one, if you understand what I mean. I tried to make spikes so it would be like step four on the background paper, but I think I should have stopped at step three. Sadly I didn't get a picture before I ruined it.

Probably the prettiest pi sign I've ever made. Normally I just screw it up. Proud ;)

A simplified version of the Sierpinski triangle

Before I filled it out :)

A simplified version of the Mandelbrot set with colour effects ;)

Comparison with 'the real deal'
Pinkie with alpha, beta, omega, lambda and rho next to the Mandelbrot set before colour effects

The stuff I used to make this mani: my mixing palette aka my calender, a small brush, nail polish thinner so the polish was easier to work with on the brush and didn't get too thick too fast and polishes: Kiko: no. 333, 235, 240 & 296, Depend: no. unknown(the red one), 34 & 247(I think), Gosh: 600 Matt Effect Top Coat & Special Edition 001 Lavender Love, Barry M: 302 Fuchia, Rival de Loop: no. 30 & La Femme Beauty: 133 Ultra Magents

While I was doing this mani I managed to break my brand new glass nail file :'(

Anyway, what do you think?
And of course, enjoy your holiday :)

Stine and I joined blogs!

Hey guys
As you might know, my friend Stine and I tested the idea of a joined blog.
Now it's here! Frk. Fine & Katihh's nail blog
In the future I'm gonna blog on our joined blog, but all of my posts will also be posted on this blog.
We hope you'll enjoy! :)

Kiko from Milan

Hello there.

I got home from Milan yesterday morning and now I want to show you which polishes I got there.

I only went to Kiko's where I got 5 polishes. They only cost €2,5 and they contain 11 ml. How can you not love Kiko? (rhetorical question) They have soo many different colours and also make-up.
I also bought a small glass nail file because my other one has vanished ;( It also only costed €2,5. How awesome is that :)
The Kiko lacquers I got, from left to right: no. 235, 240, 300, 341, 342
And from the front. Orange with gold shimmer, red, dark blue-turquoise-ish with shimmer, blue-turquoise-ish very ocean like & turquoise-green-ish
Yesterday I painted a little skull on one of my nails before I removed my polish(heavy metal). I used my black nail art pen.
Here's what it looked like:
 Do you like it? :)

Here's a pic of the nail file so you can see how big/small it is. I think it's a bit larger than the one I had before.
On the pic I've wearing Kiko no. 341, I just loove the colour, very fresh, summerlike and waterish. Adorable :)
It's like my camera doesn't catch the turquoise in the lacquer. Just imagine it with a hint of green ;)
Does any of you know the brand Kiko and how do you like it?
It's from Milan and they have stores in Italy, France, Spain, Germany and Portugal. (Here's a store locator from their website - look how Italy is totally spammed with Kiko shops :b)

Heavy Metal in Milan

A little update from Milan.
A few days ago I did this mani, Heavy Metal from Pieces. The lacquer is a silver shimmer, darker than normal. Maybe it has a black base, but it's very hard to see because it contains so much shimmer. It's awesome :)
I finished it off with Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat - a polish that I have learned to love(!!!!) very fast - because you don't really have the time to sit and wait for your polish to dry when you're on vacation, at least I don't ;)
It kinda matches a castle we went to see :b

My mani also went with me on some museums :b
Well, that's it for today.
I hope you're all enjoying your holidays.

Opi Turquoise Shatter mixed with an apology

First I want to apologize for not writing a single post in almost two weeks. The reason for this is that I've been on a camp for a week and then I had one day at home and now I'm in Milan. I got internet in the Hotel but at least you get this one post. After I get home on Monday, I'll write some more.
I did this mani last night with  Rimmel - 60 Seconds 605 Purple Reign and topped it with OPI - Turquoise Shatter which is a very very lovely shimmer crack polish. I also used Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat which is absolute amazing :)

I had some fun with my camera :b

Cold as ice

I wanted to do my version of the expression "cold as ice"
But
This mani didn't really turn out the way I wanted it to.
On the pictures i'm wearing 2 coats of Kiko and 1 coat of Gosh and yet another one of Kiko- the flakie.
I didn't expect the polishes to be that see through, though it looked pretty neat in daylight.

Trying to catch the flakie/glimmer on the nails as well as in the bottle.

Really think I need to find a light blue polish for my foundation, and then maybe try again.
Perhaps even a white base would do the work, what do you think?

18 Jul 2011

OPI, Essie and H&M

For this mani I used
H&M mini - dark purple
Essie - Carnival
OPI - Show It And Glow It

The first two fingers are dark purple and carnival. Last two are the OPI polish. Wanted to see how they looked on top of the H&M polish.
Unfortunately the result wasn't all that impressing I think.

Best friends:)
Would be nice to try them on without anything on as a base.
Would probably take 1000 years to do, but think the result would be amazing :)

And the holo-glitter-pics :)

Sun and polish

This mani is inspired by the sun.
Using China Glaze Sun Worshiper and Gosh Rainbow, I wanted to do a bright, sparkling mani.
Couldn't quite figure out how to catch the sparkling flakes in the Gosh polish though.

Using the flash it looked like this

It's weird though, I love, love, love the Rainbow in the bottle with all the flakes and glimmer. Just haven't found a polish that's perfect for the foundation in real life yet :)

Bonus info:
This is icecream-matching mani I was wearing in Barcelona

So a lot of polishes, but also insanely cheap polishes!
Have so far tested the Clichés and some of the Kiko's and thought the qualty were just fine.
